An officially-licensed game based on the Sharknado franchise coming in 2016

Bethlehem, PA—April 1, 2016: Eastern Pennsylvania-based game development company Devious Devices, LLC, announced this week that that they have acquired the exclusive licensing rights to create a Sharknado-themed tabletop game.

Game designers Eric Cesare and Anthony Rando have been working with licensing agency Earthbound, LLC, and now set their sights on incorporating all of the best aspects of the popular Syfy franchise into a cardboard box—including chainsaws, bombs, loss of limbs, and of course, plenty of hungry sharks.

According to the designers, “Our company’s pillars have always been to make games that are entertaining, fresh, and fun, and there’s no better franchise out there than Sharknado to fit that bill.”

“We’re very excited to be working with Devious Devices on the development of the Sharknado board game,” said The Asylum’s sales rep and Sharknado co-producer David Garber. “Their irreverent approach to game design is a perfect match for the outrageousness of the Sharknado franchise.”

Details about game play are being kept under wraps for now, with plans to release information over the coming months via social media. All the designers will say for the time being is that the Sharknado game will be cooperative, and feature multiple scenarios for replayability.

“We want this game to feel like the players are in their own Sharknado adventure—separate from the films, but still involving all the things that people have come to love about them,” the creators said. “We want the story to be different each time you play.”

The creators plan to bring the game to Kickstarter in 2016; the popular crowdfunding site has garnered a reputation among tabletop gamers as being one of the best platforms from which to launch new products.

SharknadoTM: The Board Game! as the game is tentatively titled, is scheduled to arrive on Kickstarter in the second quarter of 2016, with a retail release in late 2016.

The next installment of the Sharknado franchise—Sharknado 4 (working title)—will premiere in July 2016 on Syfy. The new movie will take place five years after the East Coast was ravaged in Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!. Fin (Ian Ziering), his family and the cosmos have been blissfully Sharknado-free in the intervening years, but now sharks—and ‘nados!—are being whipped up in places (and ways) least expected.

Tara Reid is also set to return as April Wexler to reveal the outcome of the fan-voted #AprilLives or #AprilDies social campaign. David Hasselhoff as Gil Shepard and Ryan Newman as Claudia Shepard will reprise their Sharknado 3 roles. New additions to the Sharknado 4 cast include Gary Busey, Tommy Davidson, Imani Hakim, Cody Linley, Masiela Lusha and Cheryl Tiegs.

Devious Devices, LLC was formed in June of 2013, and previously released Epic Picnic, a memory-based party game for adults.
